She specialises in treating illness and achieving better health for children by improving the condition of their gut.  It is through this approach and her experience of helping children (including her own) heal that Summer has earned the title of Kids Tummy Whisperer.

Summer received her training at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, USA; where she was trained in more than one hundred dietary theories and studied a variety of practical lifestyle coaching methods.

Summer is also certified by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners (AADP) and is a member of the Institute for Complementary Therapists, Australia. She offers individual in-person and Skype coaching to adults and children; as well as group coaching and is also a workshop presenter and public speaker.

Summer’s Story

With a degree in Marketing and over 20 years experience in various health industries as a Corporate National Marketing Manager, I’d always had a passion for good health and well-being.

Over the last ten years in my spare time I studied courses in Naturopathy and Nutrition; Integrative Health Care practitioner sessions; as well as endless nights researching food and health information from the “University of Google”.

It wasn’t until our daughter was diagnosed with food allergies and I healed my health following a life threatening condition that I realised I had to share my knowledge to help others live a healthy and fulfilling life.

This I believe is my true life path.

It’s amazing how sometimes the soul feels like it’s not on the right journey, then life throws you a curve ball / a message to help you get on track and live your purpose.

Our Daughter’s Food Allergies & Digestive Dysfunction

I recall receiving our daughter’s pathology results revealing she could no longer eat the majority of her staple diet (no sugar, dairy, wheat, yeast, corn, artificial additives & preservatives).

“What will she eat and where can I get it?”, I asked the doctor. His response was “I am not a Nutritionist or a Chef. You’ll have to look into that”.

When I got home and looked in our overstocked pantry, the only thing I found she could have was a can of tuna. What would she eat for breakfast, school lunch, snacks?

Over the next few years, I researched and sourced foods locally and overseas that she could eat to help her heal. Through changes in diet and the introduction of healing foods, today our daughter enjoys more food options than ever and is healthy, happy and thriving.

My Wake-up Call

I have a family history of high Cholesterol and Triglycerides that one day became life-threatening.

My blood Triglycerides peaked at 52.2 (normal is up to 2.0) and Cholesterol escalated to 23.8 (normal is up to 5.5) causing life threatening Severe Acute Pancreatitis.

After a month in critical care on life support, 20% chance of survival and 3 months restricted bed rest, the doctor told me that my only recourse for survival was to take a cocktail of medications for the rest of my life. This went against everything I had learnt, but with the threat of a repeat episode of Pancreatitis that I was told I would not survive, I felt I had no choice.

Determined to get off the highly addictive Cholesterol lowering drugs, I began to research natural supplements and followed healing diet principles to make a full recovery. I convinced the doctor to trial me off the drugs and to his amazement, my lipids were better than normal range and my pancreas had fully recovered. “I don’t know what you are doing, but keep doing it, your recovery is truly miraculous, I can’t explain it”, the Cardiologist said.

I have maintained healthy Cholesterol and Triglyceride levels with diet and lifestyle habits for four years now.

Through this journey and years of study and research I have learnt that many people unknowingly suffer from food intolerances, disease and the belief they cannot change genetic dispositions. You see, although it has not been an easy journey, our daughter’s food allergies and my life-threatening illness have been a blessing because the truth is the best gift you can give yourself and loved ones is good health for life.
